Fashionably Delicious

As I've mentioned a few times on Twitter and Facebook, I had the pleasure of styling hair at the Canadian Cancer Society's fundraiser fashion show, Fashionably Delicious, in November.  I just received some photos so I thought I'd share a few here (and the rest are in my portfolio)!

I was pleased to meet and work with another hair stylist, Maria Perricone, who also volunteered her services.  She was upbeat and fun to work beside, and her styles turned out beautifully too!

We were set up in a small conference room at the Holiday Inn Bronte in Oakville.  This is a (somwhat blurry, sorry!) photo of our work space.  As a mobile stylist, it's always fun to get to a new venue and see how I can work with it to create a functional work space.  This one worked really nicely, especially with that big mirror!  We were able to fit two chairs side-by-side and have room work comfortably.

Here's a shot of the whole group "backstage" before the ladies went out to strut their stuff.  Models, makeup artists, hair stylists, volunteers (a.k.a. zipper genies.. some of those dresses were NOT user-friendly), and event co-ordinators Lisa Dale from the Canadian Cancer Society, (to my left) and Tracie Brown of Ultimate Image Consulting (directly behind Lisa).
I styled five lovely ladies; Jen, Maggie, Margaret, Sandy, and Zoe.  They were also volunteers, not professional models, and they all looked fabulous!  They each had five changes of outfits, from casual to bridal, and they had about 2 minutes in between each outfit to change, which they all pulled off masterfully, even despite some zipper malfunctions and neckline challenges (ever tried to get a turtleneck on over an updo??).

I had a wonderful time volunteering at this event, and I was very pleased when Lisa emailed us the following day to announce that the event, in its 2-hour duration, had raised $5420.50 for the Canadian Cancer Society!

And did I mention the "Delicious" part of Fashionably Delicious?  There were treats galore, which was fabulous, because styling hair sure does work up an appetite!  :)
